The main part of this announcement should be the introduction of a significant user interface change called Valley of the Sun. As we know, most of the UX changes will be inherited by the Windows 10X shell, and Windows 10X will not be released. Now, as expected, the leaks about Windows 11 begin Windows 11 Enterprise Key Features – Windows 11 will get a brand new design. It’s clear that Microsoft needs a good reason to take back its previous claims and still abandon Windows 10 by introducing a new operating system number. And the brand new design is perfect for that.
Startup and system items float above the bottom bar
The giant from Redmond has long been preparing an update called Sun Valley (Sun Valley) – apparently, this is the name that Windows 11 has been released on the network for a long time – Microsoft regularly gave details, a new interface style became known, insider information was shared previously unknown information, and famous designers in their circle drew realistic concepts based on all this data. Start is the calling card and face of every newer version of Windows. Not surprisingly, the developers of Windows 11 will redesign it again, although not so much in a functional sense as in a visual sense – the Start window will float above the bottom bar. We have to admit that this small change makes the system look much fresher. According to information from the network, Microsoft will not radically change the “inside” of this menu – the innovations will affect only the design of the window itself.
Right angles will disappear and be replaced by curves
. The Action Center is combined with control buttons, a similar feature that has long been used in some other operating systems. Almost all mentions of this new menu suggest that it will be an island, with controls in a separate panel, notifications in another, and certain elements (like the player) in another separate one. In fact, insiders and concept creators are divided on the matter, with some convinced that Microsoft will not change its tradition and maintain right angles, while others are convinced that Microsoft will follow the curve trends in 2021. The latter better fits the definition of “all-new Windows”—sliding menus alone aren’t enough to qualify a new design as truly new.
There will be a transparent background with a blur everywhere
Curves is expected to affect practically everything in the system, from context menus and system panels to all application windows. But on this issue, the opinions of concept developers also differ – some draw curves in all possible elements of the user interface, others combine them with right angles. There is disagreement on the Internet about the style of the windows display island, the design of the corners and the sliding effect of the menus, but almost everyone agrees on the transparency of the windows. The vast majority of leaks and design renderings show transparency and blur in all windows, whether it’s at least the Start menu or the browser. Moreover, these effects are even included in the assembly of the canceled Windows 10X operating system, which Microsoft developed in parallel with the Sun Valley project for devices with two screens and weak apps.
A new font that has already been shown
The so-called acrylic transparency means the use of new effects when hovering over elements, as well as greater distance between elements – the areas of the interface with which the user interacts will certainly increase, and page titles will become thicker. Windows 11 will likely use the default responsive font Segoe UI Variable, which has already appeared in Windows 10 Build 21376 for Insiders.
